Senna Leaves – The Herb Of Cassia Tree

The use of this Senna leave is approved by Food and Science Administration. Senna leaves are prepared by the waterless shell of the cassia tree. It is used to treat many diseases like constipation, and IBS, before the diagnostic tests (colonoscopy) it is used to clean the bowel. Senna consists of many chemicals called Sennosides. This chemical causes a cathartic effect on the lining of the bowel.

Appearance:

                                     Senna leaves have a strong acidic connotation therefore many people mix Senna leaves with honey or green tea to improve its taste.

Benefits of Senna leave:

This Senna leave is beneficial to all those people who are worried about their fatness because this leave has the ability to reduce body weight. Senna fruit is used mostly for Senna leaf due to its positive manner and it also seems to be gentle otherwise people do not prefer to use Senna leaf because the American Herbal Product Association is alert against long–term use of Senna leaf.

Side effect:

Senna leaves causes many problems like Cramps and Diarrhea. It also discomforts our stomach. A person taking Senna leave by mouth in high doses it is possibly not safe, because high doses stop the normal functioning of the bowel, causes the imbalance of some chemical in the blood. It also affects the functions of the heart and causes muscle weakness, liver damage, and other disastrous effects.

Precautions:

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, short-term use of Senna leaves taken by mouth is possibly safe. It is unsafe when taken by mouth in high doses because the EXCESS OF EVERYTHING IS BAD

Warnings:

  • If a person has potassium deficiency and Electrolyte disturbances in their body then the misuse of Senna leaves make these condition more worst.
  •  If a person faces dehydration, diarrhea, and lose of tools then a person should avoid taking these Senna leaves by mouth, because it makes its condition unpleasant
  • If a person has these conditions like Abdominal pain, Ulcerative colitis, Stomach inflammation, and Prolapse then Senna leaves should not be used by a person  

Interaction:

Digoxin interacts with Senna:

Senna is called a tonic cathartic. Potassium level is low in the body to Stimulant laxative. A decrease in potassium level grows the risk of Digoxin.

Diuretic drug interact with Senna:

Senna is cathartic. Laxative has the ability to reduce potassium levels inside the body. The potassium level is also reduced by diuretic drugs. When we take Senna with a diuretic drug, this combination decreases potassium levels inside the body very much. Some water pills that are used to reduce the potassium level in the body are furosemide and hydrochlorothiazide.

Warfarin interacts with Senna:

Senna works as a cathartic. Senna can also cause Diarrhea. Increase the chance of bleeding and the effect of Warfarin increases diarrhea.

What the research says:

 On 2009 study published in the journal of toxicology shows that chronic Senna does not affect smooth intestinal muscle. In 2010 somebody think that there is an association between chronic Senna and colon cancer, But in 2011 study on Senna shows that there is no link between colon cancer and chronic Senna
